“St. Peter Parish is the second oldest catholic parish in Indiana. Founded in 1818, the parish now worships in its fifth church building which was completed in 1869. The rectory in which I live was built in 1895. In my 15 years here I have discovered that caring for old buildings in an ongoing concern. One of my greatest allies in keeping these old building in top shape has been Helming Bros. Inc. Most recently they painted the church tower and applied new gold leaf to the dome and cross of the tower. Even on a cloudy day the dome stands out brightly to all who drive along Highway 50.

Today the porch stands strong and as beautiful as the day it was built in 1895.

"Livonia Presbyterian Church in Livonia Indiana is listed on the Indiana Register of Historic Sites and Structures. Our first experience with Helming Brothers came when our church suffered storm damage to the steeple. They installed copper roofing and a copper cross gilded with 23¾ K gold leaf. There was also considerable repair work done on the tower base.

Over a two year period, Helming Bros worked with our small, active congregation as we raised funds to recondition ten 11’ x 5’ stained glass windows and a transom. Over the two years, the cleaning and cementing of the interiors & exteriors; replacing some memorial glass nameplates; the re-glazing and painting of mullions; fabricating and installing aluminum frames with ¼” protective plate glass with positive ventilation brought out the beauty of the sanctuary.

The work done for us was excellent. Any concerns or questions were promptly addressed and phone calls were returned in a timely manner. Thus, we recommend them highly."
